Quality is the single-most important driver of our processes.
To ensure the quality and accuracy of your most important translations projects, a 4-step translation methodology is employed in which your source materials are “prepped,” translated, edited, proofread, and subjected to a final review. At each step of the process a record is maintained of actions taken on work in progress—from the first moment Capital Translations receives your source content to the final sign-off at client review.

What is a quality translation?

A quality translation is one that meets both your needs and Capital Translations’
stringent quality-control standards. It is a translation that may be used for legal, marketing, or other publication/presentation purposes.

Our Translation Process:

In the preparation phase, the project manager:

1. assembles reference materials
2. reads through the document
3. notes potential problems
4. researches problems, contacts client (if necessary)
5. keys the translation (if appropriate)
6. fomulates instructions
7. distributes job and written instructions to linguists

In the translation phase, the translator:

1. renders the content and message of the source text into the target language
2. adheres to parameters set forth in style guidelines and glossaries.

In the editing/proofreading phase, the editor:

1. verifies the completeness, intelligibility, and accuracy of the translation with regard
    to source-text content and context
2. verifies grammatical accuracy
3. verifies adherence to style guidelines and terminology as set forth in client glossaries
4. verifies adherence to client-supplied reference materials
5. verifies consistent terminology usage within the translation
5. checks proper names, numbers, dates, spelling, typographical errors
6. verifies language-specific style parameters, punctuation, syntax and word-breaks
7. makes adjustments that improve the quality and accuracy of the translation

In the Quality Control phase, the quality assurance specialist:

1. reviews text for omissions (missing titles, headings, or sentences within a passage),
   deletions and additions.
2. verifies that all text attributes (bold, italics, underlining, etc.) are correct and
   consistent.
3. verifies per-language word breaks as per target-language conventions
4. verifies correct and consistent capitalization, punctuation, expression of dates,
   numbers, and titles.
5. verifies that no text has been misplaced or dropped during the DTP process
(if there is a DTP component).
6. verifies that all callouts are placed correctly within graphics and that graphics are
   placed correctly within text.
7. verifies that the table of contents is correct with respect to items and page numbers
   of sections.
8. notes any changes that need be made to ensure quality and accuracy and delegates
   corrective work to appropriate personnel.

CLIENT REVIEW:

An integral part of our translation process prior to final delivery is the client review
cycle. Capital Translations strongly encourages you to have the translation reviewed
by a representative, associate, subsidiary, or end-user after the translation process
and prior to our delivery of the finished product. Because language usage is highly subjective, the client review cycle allows a member of your firm to review style and technical wording. This helps to ensure that the translated material reflects the very
latest terminology used by your firm. Involvement of the reviewer prior to sign off
enables your firm to make the most efficient use of the translated materials
Capital Translations provides detailed guidelines that allow you to make the most of
the client review cycle.

After incorporation of the changes, Capital Translations will proceed to finalize the deliverable product for you.
